Counselling means helping people to think and analyse their problems themselves and try to come to solutions which are acceptable to them. It is a delicate and skillful method of helping a person to see his own strengths and weaknesses and trying to find out what could be an appropriate solution for his problem.
There are man skills required by a manager to become a good counsellor. The most important among them are the skills of active listening, empathy and intervention.
The MBO or Management by Objectives approach was developed under which objectives would be set for every role after discussion between the role incumbent and his senior. The appraisal would be based on the extent of achievement of these objectives.
Individuals may identify Key Performance Areas.
Contentment , which means acceptance of ones position and trying to do ones best therein, without being over-anxious about the consequences thereof on oneself, either as reward or as punishment.Lack of contentment leads t continuous dissatisfaction, always wanting what one does not have, consequent disappointment when desires are not attained and possible psychic disturbances.
