Venture Capital Undertaking means a domestic company whose shares are not listed on a recognised stock exchange in India and which is engaged in business for providing services, production, or manufacture of articles or does not include such activities or sectors which specified in the negative list by SEBI with the approval of the Central Government by notification in the Official Gazette in this regard.
The key considerations for selection of appropriate investment avenue(s) are return, liquidity and safety.
Investment avenues basically come under two broad heads : financial assets and real assets.
Debt instruments which have a maturity of less than one year at the time of issue are considered Money Market Investments. These instruments are Treasury Bills, Commercial papers, Certificate of Deposits.
Capital market instruments are classified as pure instruments, hybrid instruments and derivative instruments.
