The kidney can be divided into two distinct regions: cortex and medulla.
The ureters carry urine to the bladder. The urinary bladder is a reservoir for storing the urine until it is ready to be discharged from the body.
The urethra is a tube leading from the bladder to the outside opening of the body through which the urine is discharged.
Proteinuria means the appearance of excessive protein in the urine, i.e. greater than 20 mg/d1 in a random sample.
Albuminuria means the presence of excessive albumin in the urine, i.e. greater than 3 mg/d1.
